Step-by-Step Guides

01Request access & receive your invite

  1. 1Submit the public Request Access form β€” access is invite-based, never open signup
  2. 2A NOMAD RECON staff member or your coordinator verifies your request
  3. 3You receive an invite email with a secure invite link
  4. 4Accept the invite, create your account, and complete the onboarding checklist

02Complete your profile

  1. 1Add your name and contact information
  2. 2Confirm your department membership (read-only β€” managed through invite flows)
  3. 3Review your qualifications shown on your profile

03Set your availability

  1. 1Open My Status on the Dashboard or use the mobile status sheet
  2. 2Choose Available, Unavailable, or Partial (a note is required for Partial)
  3. 3Your availability flows to rotation boards automatically
  4. 4Administrative overrides require a reason and are logged for audit

04Set up notifications

  1. 1In-app notifications are the primary channel β€” review them in the notification center
  2. 2Opt in to push notifications from Settings (browser permission required)
  3. 3SMS text messaging is retired β€” it is not a delivery channel
  4. 4Alerts may be delayed or unavailable: always follow official dispatch and radio procedures

05Rotations & placement requests

  1. 1Rotation lists are ranked availability lists β€” rank 1 is next up
  2. 2Members and apparatus appear on lists managed per department, county, or region
  3. 3Departments request placement into regional lists; regional coordinators approve
  4. 4Deployment moves you down a rotation automatically; a no-response penalty may also apply

06Assignments: local vs regional

  1. 1Regional Mobilization assignments are created from a confirmed regional mobilization
  2. 2Local Department Assignments (e.g. a DNR contract) are created by a current department coordinator for their own resources β€” no regional approval involved
  3. 3Both are tracked through check-in, status updates, demob, and closeout

07Responding to a mobilization alert

  1. 1A Possible or Confirmed Mobilization alert opens a timed response window
  2. 2Respond Available or Unavailable in the app before the window closes
  3. 3No response before the window closes may apply a rotation penalty under the governing policy
  4. 4If you are offered a seat, confirm your participation and follow the assignment briefing

08Where to get help

  1. 1Help Center (/help) β€” complete guides and troubleshooting
  2. 2Support (/support) β€” contact, FAQ, and disclaimers
  3. 3System Status (/system-status) β€” component status and notices
  4. 4Email support@nomadrecon.org β€” replies are sent during business days

Authority & Safety Reminders

⚠NOMAD RECON is supplemental β€” not a replacement for 911, dispatch, CAD, radio, or incident command. Always follow official channels.

⚠Multiple current coordinators per scope are valid β€” new appointments never silently supersede existing ones.

⚠A coordinator who does not deploy (CoordinatorOnly participation) keeps full management access while staying out of rotation eligibility.

⚠Department membership records are read-only end-user β€” every change routes through server-authorized invite and request flows.

⚠Availability overrides require a reason and are permanently logged for audit.
